Movie opening credits

Post Molten is an experimental mystery drama following a group of four friends as they explore the woods at night. What begins as a refreshing hike gradually becomes odd and uneasy. The goal of this project was to create a concept for the opening sequence of a movie or TV show. Post Molten is an original concept and has an original score incorporated into the final form of the media. The project was required to include a minimum of ten actors in addition to crediting the director and sound composer.  Heavy contrasts with lights and dark shadows in dark environments is the most apparent visual element utilized to emphasize the mood of the film.

Particle Cube made in Max

This project utilized coding in the program Max by Cycling74. I created this particle system as the beginning stages of a bigger particle project for use with the Ultraleap hand motion controller. The project did not reach its main goal, but I enjoyed the motion and 3D volume that was created with this cube. It was a great project for jumping into code for visual production.

Web and Mobile Site Prototype

For my prototype, I had a choice between using Figma or Adobe XD. I had no experience in either program, but ending up choosing Figma to create my prototype. A concept needed to be established, and I settled on a theatrical production group to be the focus of my design. While there was a learning curve picking up a new program, I learned many new skills as well and will be using the program in the future.

Carved Kaleidoscope

A longer project that began in 2022, I created a kaleidoscope from acrylic glass mirrors. These mirrors were laser cut to size, which allowed the angle ratio to be the same on all sides. I then carved the mirror finish off the back, which allowed the design to shine through the colored acrylic and reflect off the other mirrors. This kaleidoscope requires the viewer to look through the wider end of the scope, and works best in an environment with various changes in light sources.

Randomized Audio Mix in Max

An earlier code project made in Max by Cycling74. Using original audio samples I recorded of various instruments and noises including metal hand drums, guitar synths, and piano. The code keeps the tempo and selects the audio clip and speed which it plays at. The sliders allow me to change the volume of each audio clip, with the lowest slider being the master. The code also includes reverb and delay effects.

Audio Visuals in After Effects

As original sound design makes its way into my visual design work, I used the mini project in motion graphics as an opportunity to experiment with ways that I could design audio visual content into a video format using After Effects. My goal was to provide myself with a baseline to begin working in other softwares to expand upon the ideas expressed in this project. I began by finding an audio file I created, and using the Audio Spectrum, Audio Waveform, Glow, Fast Box Blur, Tint, and Radio Waves effects, created a colorful video output that reacts to the audio levels and the frequencies they occur at.

Reminded of my Gratitude

The original prompt for this project was a simple storyboard that was one minute long or slightly longer. The story needed to follow a rise, peak in conflict, and a resolution. While drawing out my panels, I had an idea to include a song I wrote into my storyboard, as sound was highly encouraged to create a more entertaining video. This storyboard project allowed me to share my original music with my own vocals for the first time in addition to creating my first storyboard.

Motion Logo - Makin’ Biscuits

The motion logo project focused on a conceptual brand and creating a short animated logo that could loop using Adobe Illustrator and After Effects. I chose to use the provided client brief concept in my design; “Makin’ Biscuits is a small but growing company featuring wholesome crafted all natural cat treats. We are local to Oswego but are reaching out to regional markets such as Syracuse, Rochester, Ithaca and Utica. Our vibe is fun, playful and loving. We love all things cats and are proud to bring our healthy hand-crafted treats to local customers. We currently have 2 brick and mortar stores but are looking to expand to online shopping as well.”

AR Poster - Motion Logo - Makin’ Biscuits

The motion logo project focused on a conceptual brand and creating a short animated logo that could loop using Adobe Illustrator and After Effects. Once the animation was completed, a poster had to be made to go alongside the motion logo. Using Artivive, an app for mobile devices, viewers can scan the poster in the app and see the motion logo pop out of the paper! It was neat to see how this program worked, and I cannot wait to experiment more with AR experiences.

Galax Process Video

Galax is a sci-fi redesign of the board game Risk. This project is one of the very few group projects I’ve done as a designer. I worked with 3 other classmates to split up the work based on our design strengths. I got to 3D print figures for the game, and create the game tokens. After our project was done, documentation of the process was collected and compiled into a video which includes a voice over talking through each part of the project.
